"The Weird, the Wonderful, the Absurd, the Ridiculous or is it? Volume One" was first published on 1 March 2010. Its size is approx. 10.5 cm (4.13") wide by 14.8 cm (5.83") long, (also known as A6), and 9 mm (5/16") thick. It will easily fit into a purse or even a back pocket.

This volume contains 27 poem titles spread over 140 pages.

What appears below is the introduction from the book:

Introduction

Welcome to Volume One of “The Weird, the Wonderful, the Absurd, the Ridiculous or is it?” Thank you for choosing this book.

The journey of this title began with the selection of poems. This initial selection process produced too many poems for a book of this size. A culling process was conducted in order to reduce the content to a more manageable size for one book. This process successfully reduced the number of pages for the title to around 250 pages. Again, this number of pages was considered too large for an A6-sized book.

A choice therefore had to be made, of either removing a significant amount of the content, or dividing the book into two volumes. Yet another review of the poems to be included was made, and it was still difficult to decide which ones to keep and which ones to remove. Of note, a favourite book-ending poem was located approximately half-way through the collection. So, in effect, the answer was obvious.

What you have before you is volume one of a two-volume series. The majority of poems in this series, with a couple of exceptions, were written in 2009. The exception in this volume, is a poem which appears to be out-of-place or unusual. This poem was added as part of a tradition which started with my first book, and continues to this day. It was written while creating this volume.

What you have before you is a collection of poems that vary in subject, content, length, ideas, and beliefs. There is no pattern, no synchronicity, and no theme connecting any of them.

In creating what I would call a “random” book, I do not generally take the order in which the poems were written into account. This is not the case with this volume. With the exception of the poem mentioned above, the poems in this volume do appear in the order in which they were written.

This book hopefully, is a whimsical look at life through my weird sense of humour. Most of the poems are obscure in thought, weird in subject, and tongue-in-cheek in their content.

There is one poem in this volume that may raise the eyebrows of some people. It is called “For his eyes only.” It was originally created in response to a request from a friend for a poem about a man’s love for something. It is certainly risqué, and could easily be misunderstood. While some people will connect to the funny side of this poem, a warning has been placed at the start of it.

So there you have it, the first volume of my weird books. Read a little, get a sense of what it might be about, and then decide if it is for you. Either way is okay with me, and I do hope you find something of value in what follows.

I now invite you to read the first volume of “The Weird, the Wonderful, the Absurd, the Ridiculous or is it?”
